Been There. Done That.

My first job out of college was a Manufacturing Engineer at a machine & fabrication shop in Winchester, VA.  Here, I acquired invaluable real world hands-on project management skills that firmly cemented the engineering education I received at Virginia Tech.

I had an opportunity to move out to Los Angeles to experience the other side of our wonderful country, and I took it!  I spent a year-plus commuting back and forth to Irvine to work at a division of SONY.  Once the crazy motorcycle commute took its toll on me, I found a job closer to home and poured my heart into Polar Vision -- we were so successful making this startup profitable that DuPont ultimately purchased the company.

Shorty after 9/11, I moved back to Virginia and was hired at Alfa Laval -- here I obtained my Six Sigma Black Belt, which fortunately involved frequent trips to Europe.  After many great years at Alfa, an opportunity arose at Alstom Power (now GE) to work as a Sales Manager -- so, in an effort to broaden my skillset I pursued and ultimately secured that sales position.  This led to several different roles at Alstom, which also involved a great deal of domestic and foreign travel.

The appeal of working at a ginormous global company was wearing thin.  So, I took a year-plus hiatus to do some soul-searching.  This led me to Evatran, a local startup building cool stuff where I could get my hands dirty again.  The job was awesome and I found exactly what I was looking for....  uh, until it was purchased by a foreign entity and its domestic operations were terminated.  Dangit.

Yes, more soul-searching.  After scanning endless job postings, nothing was really jumping out at me.  I had always wanted to try my hand in the consulting world but had never been ready to jump on in.  Until boom, I finally took the big leap in November, 2018 and formed Streamline Industrial Consulting...  and Richmond will never be the same.

• Ensured unprecedented volume of newly-designed units were delivered on-time at high quality levels, despite formidable new product-line challenges
• Managed national medium to large-scale projects, including plant layouts, large equipment design and specifications, and investment planning

• Redesigned quoting process by creating accurate cost-estimating tools 
• Managed all machinery procurement projects including cost estimates, project timelines, contractor management, equipment installations, and training

• Modified product designs, engineering drawings, and work travelers to optimize production
• Supported work teams, providing them with rapid problem resolution, time-saving work methods, and quality compliance assistance
• Optimized 33K sqft of manufacturing space utilizing SDRC I-DEAS CAD software
